Life Hacking I: Day One

I've been reading the book "Turning Numbers into Knowledge: Mastering the Art of Problem Solving" by Jonathan Koomey and am reminded of this concept of "life hacking", the process of finding little things each time to improve productivity and quality of life. I suppose it's part of the New Age brauhaha - positive thinking, macrobiotic eating etc etc.

Anyway, productivity is one thing I'm rather interested in, apart from making more money. I don't like the feeling of not accomplishing a lot of things in any given day. So I'm starting with mornings. Despite having "woken up" at 5am, I still managed to get to the train station, a mere 5 minutes (10-15 minutes when I'm carrying the laptop) at 8:40am.

What have I done this morning? Done the requisite stretches to minimise back aches and pains later. Eaten 2 pies (huge appetite lately), long hot shower where I washed my hair, shaved all the usual female parts that require shaving, checked my mail, sent mail, checked Facebook (bad habit), got round to installing Skype on the work laptop and added a friend to Skype (long overdue, meant to talk with her on Skype voice etc etc). Also wrote a friendly reminder to the flatmate reminding him of the overdue rent payment. And some how I managed to get out of the house only after 8 when I meant to have left at 7 for an early start at the office. *sigh*
