Ride It Up

I took a 3.5 hour leisurely ride this morning just before it rained pretty heavily. Still trying to get into my cycling legs. There are a lot of fairly "pro" cyclists around that I just didn't notice before. All speeding way ahead of me. Perhaps I'll catch up, in time. Right now I'm just trying to manage long distance before I go for speed.

Shut Up and Ride

I was going to join a group ride early this morning but I was stopped at the train station by the station master. He refused to let me board the train with my bike even though there was hardly anyone. It wasn't like the bicycle would cause any accidents in an empty carriage yet he was really rigid about the supposed company policy. Because of that, I got to the meeting spot late and everyone had left.

This is one country that pays lip service to healthy living. Surely, cyclists should be able to board a train during off peak hours when there aren't many commuters around? How are people supposed to go from place to place? I'm really disappointed.

Cycling En Masse

I was planning to wake up early this morning to join a cycling group on a 7am ride. The starting point was some where in town, so I would either have to drive down with my bike or catch a train. I got up at 5am, had a little bit to eat, washed it down with a bit of coffee but still felt really sleepy and woozy. I debated whether to go while looking up driving directions. Laziness won out and I headed back to bed for some shut eye. The group rides out at 5am on a normal work day (today being a public holiday) . I just can't imagine being so dedicated to health and cycling to get up that early every single day. I can see myself working at 5am along with copious amounts of coffee but just not cycling, which I associate with leisure. I guess I might ride out later this evening and psyche myself into joining the next group bike ride. I do want to join a social activity group after all, even if it seems to involve a level of masochism.

It's raining cats and dogs now. It's probably just as well I didn't turn up.
