Wet Blankets, Energy Vampires or Realists?

I have made some progress in my job hunt. It's a little close to Christmas, so I may not be able to pencil in enough interviews to land a job. Also, one HR/Office manager warned me that things were a little chaotic right now so realistically I should hear back from them next year. Perhaps I should apply to the other offices, directly. I'll need to get a hold of the HR manager for the other office.

I casually mentioned to my dad about my job hunt situation and right off the bat, he said, "No job last forever and things change. There is no job security."

For crying out loud, what the heck is that supposed to mean? Why does he always have to say things like that to me? Anyone who considers themselves part of the Y or X generation probably knows that job security in this age is a myth. The golden handshake is more common than the golden plaque or the golden parachute these days. Anyone who doesn't know that hasn't been paying attention to the news. It's the major reason why job hopping and company poaching is more prevalent. No job security == no employee loyalty.

Resume Revamp

I've finally sent off one targeted resume to a friend working for the company I'm interested in. It took quite a bit of work paring it down to 1 page while reformatting it so that it looked less dense and more readable. I really need to start writing down details of all the projects I've done on the job and what I've learnt or developed from each of them.

Time to send out more resumes and prepare for interviews....
