A Blog Blog Here, A Blog Blog There

Professional Weblogging and online networking seems to be all the rage now. I wonder how effective that really is. I am in the process of setting up other blogs to experiment. I'm considering whether to put up a full executive blog like the GM of RaboPlus or Blue Sky Resumes or a secret professional one like Going Private.

The upside to the former is that people can find me more easily and put together nicely, is a good form of public relations or personal branding (the latest fad) if you will. The downside, of course, is that everything put there must be well considered. With the latter, I can write everything pertaining to The Industry with some degree of anonymity (one hopes) given sufficient effort to obfuscate details. It is easier to write more candidly because there is no public face attached to it. It is useful when it comes to sprucing up the resume. Louise Fletcher does have a good point about keeping track of your work. Having a portfolio is one thing. Being able to remember details of your work history is another. The journey is as important as the destination because there are bound to be lessons to be remembered along the way. It's hard to recall what one has eaten for breakfast, let alone what one did last week.

This is my venting ground, so don't expect me to tell you here what I do or don't do for a living. For all intent and purposes, I am a jobless hobo.

** I'm not affliated with or related in any way with these people.
