2 Movie Reviews: Iron Man and Lust, Caution

Movie Review #1: Iron Man
Based on a Marvel comic which I haven't read so can't comment on how closely it follows the comic. Visuals was great though unrealistic. CAD and other design software in real life never looks as sexy as it does in movies. The robotics is another thing. I think they've turned Paltrow into a redhead for her role as Pepper Potts. Think she did an excellent job in this movie although I did wonder how a woman on such high heels could run/walk that fast. I really admire the women who can do that because every time I wear heels I find my pace is hampered. It seems that my pace is inversely proportional to heel height. Great performance from the lead actors. The sexual tension between Potts and Stark was palpable from the time he sees her in a low backed gown (for what was probably the first time) and "sees" her as a woman and not just his P.A. The robotic action was decidedly muted for what should be an action movie. I think the friend whom I watched it with would have preferred to watch the latest Indiana Jones movie also out in cinemas over this one. Ticketing has gone up from $7 to $11 at this cinema.

Movie Review #2: Lust, Caution
I watched this Lee Ang film several weeks ago with another friend. We both agreed it was technically very good, as expected of a Lee Ang production. This version wasn't the censored one shown in other countries. Personally I thought the extra sex scenes were a bit gratituous, almost to the point of pornography. It is a difficult movie to work on though since the emotions that need to come through are complex to portray by nature.
