New Jammies!

The incessant raining has stopped and some days we actually get a nice warm sun. Still, it's been getting quite cold lately and I still seem to be missing several items of clothing. I haven't had much time or inclination to shop so when I spotted flannel pyjamas for sale in the weekly supermarket catalogue, I jumped at the chance to get myself something warm. Why would anyone buy clothes at a supermarket, you might ask? Well, the thing is, the only place that's open till from 6am to midnight on most days happens to be the supermarket and there's one just round the corner from where I live. So by the natural law of laziness, taking the easiest path possible, it made the most sense to buy pyjamas from the local supermarket.

I've been hunting for comfortable, plain black sleepwear for the longest time. I'd even settle for plain sleepwear that's not white, beige or pastel. This time round I was looking for flannel pyjamas. I've already looked in various specialist shops and online stores like Agent Provocateur and Victoria's Secrets to no avail. It is possible to get relatively plain sleepwear in striking colours, but if they're pyjamas, they're usually made of silk or satin -- just not warm enough in winter. The only other "plain" nighttime clothing that comes in colours I like tend to be in the "adult fun" category, the kind not really designed to be slept in.

Anyway, this venture was no different. All the women's flannel pyjamas came in garish or pastel colours and cutsey prints. They also had very, very limited sets of size 10/12. Most of the ones available were size 14/16 and 18/20, both of which were way too big for me. In the end, I settled on a set, since I really did need new pyjamas. I was rather tempted to get pyjamas from the men's section since they tend to have better colours. However, depending on the cut, even a "small" in men's apparel can be too big and I've yet to find a "x-small" here. My current black fleece robe was purchased from the men's section and it is slightly too big for me although because of the way they've cut it, it's not too obvious.

So why don't people produce more simple, plain, comfortable, loungeable pjs that aren't massively oversized or undersized? I just don't get it.
