Japanese Language Meetup

I attended my first Japanese language meet up yesterday, ostensibly to practise my spoken Japanese. Alas, I seemed to have forgotten a great deal since the last time I took Japanese language classes and ended up speaking more English. I also unexpectedly bumped into a former college mate who had spent a year in Japan.

Apart from the people there to practise their verbal skills, there were also a few Japanese language private tutors looking for business. There was also the odd man there to either pick up girls or serve as human handbags. One case in point was a Kiwi who was dating a Japanese girl moonlighting as a private tutor. He quickly made it clear that he had no knowledge of Japanese or had any intention of learning any and that his interest lay only in dating girls.
